I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed amendment regarding price increases to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business influencing/dictating the price. I thought ICANN was supposed to represent the best interests of all participants/users of the internet. Will you hear our voice?

From what I have read the Proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement is not a public process and there is no accountability or transparency. Given the open nature of the internet that is hard to believe. Secrecy hides evil. Don’t be evil. Be open and allow everyone to inspect what the story is. Looking at https://www.icann.org/stewardship it makes me wonder if the council is holding itself accountable. Considering that the ICANN will receive $20M from Verisign and that there is no clear indication of how this money will be spent I think it's incumbent on a worldwide council FOR the world to clarify why this is happening.

To whom it may concern, I have been informed through my domain name provider that you are drafting a contract that will significantly increase the cost of .com domains. Please reconsider this action as it will have ramifications in the free market system. You may very well be shooting yourselves in the foot, and be harmful in the long run. Be considerate of what is in the best interest of the customer as you make decisions for what is best for your business. Respectfully submitted, Mark Perry
