I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. I am writing to add to the comments urging you to reconsider any drastic increase to the pricing of the .com domain. There is simply no need for the increase and to do so anyway would be a sad example of corporate greed.

Will anybody even read this? Considering the DECLINING costs of technology, I would expect the cost of domain registration to be going DOWN. Considering there's no competition, raising of the wholesale cost of registration is tantamount to monopolistic abuse. I hope that ICANN, in serving the public interest, would take heed to the overwhelming opposition of the public to the price hikes that will be allowed by this amendment. Thank you.

I do not consent to any proposed price increases to the .com TLD registrations. Agreements made via opaque (opposite of transparent) discussions between ICANN and Verisign indicate corruption at worst and incompetence at best, and a lack of oversight of these two organizations. This proposed amendment needs to be discarded and transparency implemented for the public to see, and participate in, before any more changes are considered.
