I am a domainer (I invest in domain names as a business). I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Nikhil Jain Mumbai, Maharashtra India Email: nikhil2rjain(a)gmail.com

[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] Proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement
by Jeno Galaczi Feb. 11, 2020

Dear ICANN, I would like to share my opinion regarding your recent announcement of a possible price increase for .com domain registration. I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely the manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Jeno Galaczi Budapest, Hungary

[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] Deny passing Proposed Amendment 3
by Dale Feb. 11, 2020

Feb. 11, 2020
The proposed amendment 3 should not be passed in current form. 1. While the pricing allowances are in line with Amendment 35, it is a loss to ICANN to take a $20M USD flat payment in this exchange. To create a stable source of funding for initiatives ICANN must consider a fixed rebate percentage tied to all wholesale domain transactions on .COM through registry operators. Decoupling the payment from the service serves only one party: the for-profit entity Verisign. 2. Verisign should NOT be able operate its own registrar or act as a reseller in which direct profits are obtained by line item domain registration. Combined with the price controls this is a severe conflict of interest. The language must specifically bar Verisign from engaging in domain registrar activities, directly or indirectly. -Dale Liszka

I am a registrant of multiple .com domain names. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Domain names are simply text in a database. They should all cost the same, regardless of the sequence or combination of characters. Joy Reynolds Dallas, Texas United States

I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. This hike will disproportionately affect low income people as well as artists and bloggers. Stop the greed. Enan Joe Heneghan Chicago

Hello, I hope ICANN considers my opinions on the proposed .com domain price increase by Verisign. I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest.
