Dear Madam/Sir we heard about your deal with Verisign and that you now wish to incorporate some sort of "dynamic rent increase" on .com domain renewals. While I understand you surely have to make a profit to run your business I would urge you to use care in determining how much the increase will be. .com domains traditionally have a good performance for their owners and you as the authority looking after them surely did a great job. Don't risk the reputation and trust gained in your domains just to make the "fast & easy $$$" at all your customer's expense. Be reasonable. Regards Christian Laekamp (futuramax.com)

I disagree with the ICANN proposed increase in charges. They are too extreme for individuals such as myself who is just trying to get a presence on the web. What I am paying now is already too him just for a domain name. Hosting is extra and costly too. What are you trying to do? Make individual domains obsolete? Shameful. It should not be this complicated. Unjustified price hikes are appalling and I would stop using .com altogether and advise against it to all clients.

This letter is to voice my disapproval of ICANN's proposal to increase .COM domains in the near future. This action has not taken into account the opinions of the ICANN or internet community and will subject these users to significant and unnecessary price increases, making domains less accessible and unable to maintain for the average user. As well, full disclosure as to how these extra funds will be specifically used has not been made aware. Considering this, I ask that this needless increase be scrapped. Curtis Wall

I am an owner of .com domain names and provide affiliated registry services as well as register domain .com names for clients. I believe ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest.* *With that said, those evaluating the proposed price increase or removal of price caps need only ask themselves, what public good is achieved by allowing the only provider of .com domain registrations and renewals to increase prices?* *The only thing that is achieved is consumers will pay more for the same registration and use rights. Hello, I would like to voice my opposition to Proposed Amendment 3. I believe that the global DNS registration system should be run primarily as a public concern. The only entities that stand to benefit from the proposed arrangement are verisign itself, at the expense of the public. These price hikes will impact the millions of small, independent businesses and developers that rely on the system as is to make their livelihood. Further, this could prove yet another point of pressure that convinces a small business to make their online presence exclusively in the Facebook walled garden and eschew the web itself. The web, and global DNS, were envisioned to be run for the public good, and they SHOULD be run for the public good. Deals such as this are an abdication of that mandate; short sighted profit chasing at the expense of all else. Please do not adopt this proposal.

Dear Sir / Madam This is to ask you to review your closed door agreement with VERISIGN in connection with planned price increase as this does not look good to us the general public of .com owners and Internet users. It has come to light that VERISIGN pledged you ICANN, the sum of $20 million dollars over the next 5 years. This in my opinion does not look good as it implies something completely different that it can even be interpreted as bribery? For how can you a regulator, take money from one of the companies you are supposed to regulate? I am hereby asking you to do the following, that our (that is, us the public) faith in you may be restored 1. The public be consulted over this matter 2. Transparent system of operation 3. That you, ICANN to incorporate feedback from the ICANN community and Internet users 4. Accountability becomes a priority 5. No more deals behind closed doors 6.
