It is highly disappointing to watch ICANN further depredating the public trust, as we face the latest in a long series of cynical money grabs by cronies of the Corporation's leadership. Serving as a captured agency to Verisign's exploitation of their de facto monopoly over the most valuable domain names is not what any of us had in mind in 1998 — or perhaps it was precisely what you had in mind all the time, and the rest of us were too naïve to see it then. More and more, it looks like a real alternative to current governance is the only path forward that can be expected to work to the benefit of internet users, rather than that of a well-connected company with a documented history of abusing both the market and the privacy of millions of individuals. Hello, I have been made aware by Namecheap about the impending price increases on .com domains over the next decade. As a small business owner, I do not wish to see a further expense levied that will apply pressure to my day-to-day workings. It is entirely unethical to have implemented a deal that sees end users forking out more than they need in order to own one of if not the oldest TLD in internet history. The price of .com domains should be decreasing, not increasing as the maintenance costs of better technology become cheaper. I will be sharing this with local business owners in the UK. Should the deal go through it is likely we will boycott .com domains. We will not tolerate profiteering at small business's expense and very survival. Kind regards, -- *Nik Gupta*

Hi, As a current .com domain owner I want to express that I am not happy with the recent changes on the contract with the .COM TLD with Verisign Inc. It’s not clear from the current situation why these changes are taking place and they seem like a quick money grab undercover. ICANN as an organisation should not take part in these stupid business antics and should just act as a keeper of the open internet. Ricardo

Dear ICANN Administration, I have heard about the new contract between ICANN and Verisign from Jan 3rd 2020. I own a .COM domain since years, and the Internet should not become a restricted market, where a few companies like Verisign control prices and registrars and possibly can raise registrar prices at their own discretion. I am completely against this contract with Verisign and hope you will change it to allow a free and open market and open fair competition for a lot of registers and don’t favor one company like Verisign, even not when they are paying you 20 Million Dollars. I do not support this proposed amendment No. 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement (Amendment 3). There is an extreme lack of oversight for this initiative, which may seem like it offers value, but in truth only offers value to ICANN org and Verisign, Inc. Who will regulate the possibility of price increase after the freeze period? Who will ensure that the revenue received from these increases will be used to 'work together on additional initiatives'? As an owner of multiple .com domain names, I do not support this amendment and I do not support the possibility for an increase in .com registrant prices. Technology costs are constantly decreasing as new efficient mechanisms, procedures, and other various improvements are made each day. "Security, stability, and resiliency" of the Domain Name System can be improved by utilizing better talent, not at the unnecessary expense of domain name owners. Overall, $7.85 already exceeds the value offered by the DNS service.
