It is very important that the web remain accessible, open, and affordable for both individuals and businesses alike. These price hikes may result in a drop-off of many .com domains for small businesses and individuals looking to build their online presence. Please consider opposing Amendment 3 in its current state until the pricing structure is established with the best interest of all in mind, not just those with deep pockets.

Do not raise prices of the cost of .com domains as it will only cause people to cancel .com domains and choose another domain extension. I do not support raising the price of .com domains.

I think it’s greedy to increase the .com registration fee. If it’s increased People like me that look forward to having a website one day will not have that capacity as an African that earn less than a dollar a day.

As the new proposed contract makes a way to increase .com domain cost, small startups and budding entrepreneur will be affected badly. As we see lot of young entrepreneur starting from school. Also it affects side projects. It may be a small amount for Tier 1 countries but for Tier 2 & 3 it will be huge when we see an increase. So i hope you don't let verisign to increase domain price for wholesaler. Thanks, Kartik

This is really not a fair step taken by ICANN & Verisign as I do not think it will affect positively the internet community and including your prestige. Personally me and dozens of my friends are totally against this act and we request like rest web society avoid price increase for COM. As it will affect development of worldwide web negatively. The idea of big companies, like Google, Facebook, etc. is to deliver internet to each and every household on the world and you guys are taking reverse step by stopping this campaign. Pls withhold!!!

Dear ICANN I have heard that you have agreed with Verisign that there can be huge increases in prices for .com domains. I keep quite a few of them, mostly to protect copyrights (for instance both my late grandfathers, Richard Hughes and RJ Minney, were authors) but I have also built a small global consulting business that relies on a .com domain and I spent 2 years trying and succeeding to recapture the .com name (munkination.com) my son had developed as a teenager but allowed to lapse, and only now age 27 he is starting to build it as a global creative brand, inspired by his teenage vision. Increasing the prices of .com domains would hurt me and my family and my business and damage our abilities to own our own brands and develop our lives and businesses, which is the requirement in the age where there are so many fewer formal sector jobs available. The price increase will be disproportionately and particularly badly felt in developing currencies where USD is already a big problem and the Internet is providing a great tool towards equality and self-advancement for millions of entrepreneurs. I urge you to peg price increases to a maximum that is in line with global inflation - treat the Internet like a utility such as water that we all need to survive. I am also alarmed by the accountability of the alleged payment to ICANN and wonder what precedent that sets as we saw ICANN as the non-profit guardian of the netizens - that kind of development money can easily be raised elsewhere without affecting so many million people.
