I just want to vois my opinion in this matter. I oppose to this amendment for the obvious reasons. Internet needs become more accessible, not the other way around. This proposal is a step in the wrong direction. Please reconsider.

To whom it may concern, Think twice before you decide to raise the price. Those who can't afford it will have no problem making the change to a less expensive option. While you think you're doing the right thing, you will only ostracize the part of your consumer base who falls into a mid-to-lower tier economic status. Those who *can* afford it will be tempted to jump ship once the trend of lower costing domains become a social norm. The world doesn't rely on ".com" anymore and they certainly won't be hesitant to change if you decide to place pressure on your loyal, paying customers. The young tech entrepreneurs will find a way around this. Dear Friends This to inform you that I am 100% opposed to raising prices for the .com domains. It is absolutely unnecessary to do that. Many .com domains are owned by small businesses. Fee increases can affect companies in a lot of negative ways, and with continuous increases fewer and fewer businesses will feel that the .com TLD is reliable to own. It sounds like ICANN is making this change for a big payout from Verisign. Who is that money going to? Is there a clear and transparent budget? This feels a lot like a shady deal to make more money off of the internet community to me, while siphoning money off the top to Execs. Thanks for what you all do for the internet. More transparency about this would be good: Verisign agreed to pay ICANN an additional $20 million dollars over five years to support ICANN's domain name system initiatives, without any clarity about how ICANN will spend the money, or who will ensure that the funds are properly spent on domain infrastructure. Also, please keep domain prices low. A lot of small business need that. Thanks, James

To Whom It May Concern, I am a client of NameCheap and they inform me that Versign is going to be paying ICANN $20 million dollars and that Versign will permitted to compete with domain name registrars. This is appears to be a conflict of interest between Versign and ICANN of Section 1.2 Conflict of Interest Policy. The $20 million dollars paid to ICANN will get passed to the domain name community – please don’t think that Versign is giving you free money. This is also an ethical conflict of interest as you claim that you want price competition but NameCheap states that you negotiated this deal in secret. No deal in history that was done in secret has ever resulted in price competition. I am sure that a better deal could be discovered if there was public input. However, I have seen various entities use public comments as public relations and have ignored the public’s concerns. Hopefully real public input would occur. No one entity should control the majority of top level domains such as Versign. NameCheap indicates that Verisign controls almost 80% of registrar pricing of domain names. This is a monopoly. Monopolies do not result in price competition. Monopolies result in price increases. The top level domains should be split between a dozen companies who are forbiden to act as registrars. Unfortunately, this appears to be a back room deal, if true that it was negotiated in secret, and one that will result in price increases. Why would it be in the public interest to have Verisign compete with the domain name registrars? I am sure that another method can be discovered to raise money for expenses that is fair.
