ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Verisign has no place in dictating prices. An argument can be made that adjustment for inflation could be made, but this agreement seems goes way beyond that. I oppose this proposed change. Thank you, Wyatt Ciomperlik

This new deal with Verisign looks very shady. In the past, I respect ICANN as a neutral regulator of domain registry, but with the closed door deal with Verisign which allows Verisign to raise prices with little accountability and directs investment in ICANN, this smalls very problematic. Dear ICANN, We operate two small businesses and have received notification of the pending increases to .com domain names. Small business is the lifeline of both consumers and the nation and any excessive and consistent increase in fees erodes our ability to operate profitable, which in turn affects our employees as well. We strongly object to the proposed agreement with Verisign which will have a detrimental effect to many hundreds of thousands / millions of businesses. As owner of multiple domains for my business, I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. It's far too high. No one other than Verisign wants increases in .COM prices. I would love to see a very clear explanation for how this increase is justified given they will not be providing additional services or benefits for the additional cost, and given their profits are high, which means a price increase is not necessary. I understand their may be a need for price adjustment over time, but I'm very interested to know how a 70% increase is being justified ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest, not in the interest of a single company that merely manages the registry. This price increase is anything but in the public interest. I suggest you put the service out to bid if Verisign insists on an increase this ridiculous. They should not be able to increase their profits at the expense of the public just because no other service is allowed to compete.
