Hi I am writing to voice my opposition to the proposed arrangement between ICANN and Verisign that will increase rates on the .com domains and decrease competition on companies who provide registrar services. I personally own 40+ domains for myself and my business and this will directly affect me. Certain registrars are already trying to raise prices on top level domain names without adding any more value - it just seems like a price gouge. If there are to be any changes to how domain names are priced, it should be an open process that incorporates more than just the 2 parties who stand to benefit most from the change - ICANN and Verisign. I also want to express my opposition to Verisign becoming a registrar and stifling competition in a space where they have been given a dominant position. Verisign has profited from this first-mover, dominant position for years and trying to get into an even more dominant position only serves them and not the public who relies on affordable domain name fees. 1. Do not increase wholesale domain registration rates 2. The internet is a land of profiteering as it is. To impose fixed increases YOY with no material reason is monopolized effort for quick cash. I was born into the dot com world and without it, I don't know where I would be. Shame on you for making a quick buck at the expense of others. Because you can does not make it right. To whom it may concern, The internet is a vital part of our economy, a fact I'm sure you're well aware of. Secret deals made behind closed doors that result in a 75% increase in the cost of the most numerous type of domain registration? Hmmm, I wonder what is going on there? Surely if this were really necessary, you'd have asked us what we thought, you'd have brought it up publicly and explained in a reasonable way why this increase is needed. But you didn't. Instead you slunk in, at the last minute, like a dog having taken food off the table, head down, scuttling by, hoping to escape notice. Giving the least amount of time necessary for us to respond. It's shameful, although I know you are immune to that feeling. You have to have pride in what you do to feel shame in doing it poorly. Stop the process. Give us time to discuss it. If it's a real need, and not just a shady cash grab, then we'll understand, and while we might not like it, we'll go forward together. But you won't do that will you? You'll slink along, head held low, eyes downcast, because to you, your pride and honor don't mean anything, and cash does. You'll know this is a slimy move, and we'll know it, and only you will continue to pretend that you have any integrity, because even you don't like what you've become.

ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. It is not strike deals that benefit it and those who do business with it. I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Hello, Like many other internet users today, I¹m concerned by the recent changes encouraging price increases for domains. To keep a free and open internet, it is important that domains remain reasonable enough in pricing to make them accessible to people of all different income levels. I¹m writing you to express my opposition to ICANN changing the contract with Verisign. We do NOT want an increase in pricing for .com domains and Verisign should not be able to be a registrar. Dear ICANN & Verisign, My understanding is that .COM wholesale domain prices can grow by more than 70% over and above current prices over the next decade under this amendment. I also understand that this contract also allows for other price increases, which could drive prices up further, ultimately making .COM domains less accessible and more expensive for everybody. These changes will have significant impact on the Internet for years to come, and only ICANN and Verisign have participated in this decision. This is not a fair and equitable proposition for users of the .COM TLD. Please do not enact this amendment. Sincerely, Nora Rubinoff
