It's just crony capitalism to accept $20 million in bribe money from Verisign in return for control over pricing of .com domains. Hello, I don't know when you lost your morality or who specifically (someone on the board, maybe the whole board) they (Verisign) bribed to make this happen, but you all make me sick, with your corrupt back-alley deals, selling out to corporate greed, and general morally reprehensible behavior. I suggest you reconsider the deal you made with Verisign for your own moral salvation. This is the very definition of the word "corrupt". Did your parents raise you to be such greedy, malevolent scumbags, or did you learn this all by yourself? As someone that owns a lot of active domains, I’d hate to see prices be allowed to increase as they are proposed to without any justification other than executives making more money. ICANN should be trying to keep prices low as the cost to operate continue to decline due to more efficient technologies and cheaper bandwidth. Anyways, I hope you actually listen to the community instead of effectively selling out to a large corporation. --- Troy Whiteley

I am writing to comment about the Proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement, as my domain provider (NameCheap.com) gave me notice of the upcoming possible changes. I believe it is outrageous and not appropriate for an organization to require and probably charge increases (according to my provider - NameCheap.com) of up to 70% and over the next decade. Why? Because the current system is basically a one entity monopoly and for various reasons I understand, am fine with that. HOWEVER, for ICCAN to request large amounts of money ($20MM) without a formulated budget and projection for what and where this money is spent to ensure a sufficient and profitable business for ICCAN is unacceptable. I understand that ICANN needs money to operate, needs money to grow, needs money for software or hardware changes, and am fine with it all. But to ask for this type of increase WITHOUT stating or showing where, how and why this money is needed or planned to be used is unacceptable. ICCAN should be run like a business not a quasi-governmental operation where it can spend money like a drunken sailor and not be accountable to at LEAST a justifiable review process. This is why I object to this proposed amendment as it stands. Modify it for a budget / review / projection of needs process (by an INDEPENDENT review body) and I am totally fine with whatever money ICCAN will need to continue to deliver their business proposition with excellence. Hello, I have several .com domains that I host websites and mail through. The proposed Amendment 3 is completely unnecessary and simply a way for Verisign to increase their revenue stream. The marginal costs to continue to serve DNS for .com is nil, and we all know that. This proposal is clearly just a money grab by all involved in this process. It is ICANN's responsibility to govern the internet system for the good of the public and not to increase profits for the few. Thank you, Todd Smith United States

I appreciate this opportunity to provide comments to the proposed amendment to the .COM registry agreement. I am the registrant of .COM domains and expect to be affected by this decision. Considering the origin of the price increases that have made their way into many registry agreements, I'm opposing any potential price increases in this proposal. I do not see any reason to permit price increases. Declining costs for most of the associated technology and the rising number of registrations actually argues for a lower per-registration cost, rather than a higher one. Other potential operators have made credible statements (and bids) that show that the registry can be run at a lower price. As a public company, Verisign's biggest obligation is to their shareholders, which means they need to increase their profit as much as possible. This does not align with the interest of the community and stakeholders in the ICANN process. ICANN's goal is to keep the internet technically stable, this is not done by granting arbitrary price increases. Regards, Matthew Geiger Vigilist LLC
