by Clare Chambers Feb. 7, 2020

I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Clare Chambers Bremen, Germany Get Outlook for Android<https://aka.ms/ghei36>

[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] .com price increase with leave the website concept dead
by Nikhil Paingy Feb. 7, 2020

Feb. 7, 2020
it’s important that dotcom enjoys it premium status and one very important aspect of it maintaining its premium status is the renewal price. As the renewal price has stayed low over the years, it helps a worthy renewable option for our dotcom customers. We are always facing tough competition from google products like search listing, maps listing, FB pages, insta pages, etc which Businesses these days prefer using instead of building and maintaining a website. As website builders, we have been facing a tough time to ensure they don’t drop out. We still see that around 12% of our customers stop continuing with a website, however the least dropout are seen on a dotcom domain as the clients take pride in holding it back. Please consider putting a cap and ensuring no future increase happens on their prices

[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] Proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement

I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. A price increase unfairly and disportionately targets small businesses who usually have multiple domains compared to large corporations who have much fewer domains. Jeffrey Roth Scottsdale, AZ

I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Jeff M. N. Hercules, California United States

[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] .COM Domain Price Increase
by Aaron White Feb. 7, 2020

Feb. 7, 2020
I am against seeing the price of .COM domains increase. The current pricing provides more than enough profit margin for maintenance of existing registrations and an ability to support any future registrations. Thank you, Aaron White

[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] Proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement
by Frank Michlick (DC2) Feb. 7, 2020

Thank you for the opportunity to provide comments to the proposed amendment to the .COM registry agreement. My company is the registrant of about 250 .COM domains and consults registrars, registries, marketplaces and DNS companies. Considering the origin of the price increases that have made their way into many registry agreements, I'm opposing any potential price increases, especially for .COM. The increases were originally allowed due an out of court settlement between ICANN and Verisign, that was decided without any community input and should have been time limited. Being quite technical myself, I do not see any obvious reason for the cost to run the registry and the DNS servers to increase. Technology gets cheaper in scale and the number of registrations is still increasing. Many other potential operators have made credible statements (and bids) that show that the registry can be run at a lower price. Thus, the rate should remain fixed at $7.85, or even be lowered. As a public company, Verisign's biggest obligation is to their shareholders, which means they need to increase their profit as much as possible. This does not align with the interest of the community and stakeholders in the ICANN process. ICANN's goal is to keep the internet technically stable, this is not done by granting arbitrary price increases. Sincerely, Frank Michlick DomainCocoon Inc. Montreal, Quebec Canada
