Hi there, Please don't let private company to control something that was meant for everyone. Don't let them enter into ICANN. Com domains are the heartbeat of the internet. Profits in the present won't make much sense if they bring big losses in the future.

I’m a small businessman and overhead is already eating much of my profit. Don’t make these price increases in .com domains when the profit made by sellers is already quite handsome and those of us who buy them are already spending a significant amount of our profits to pay for them. Steve Stout

Good morning ICANN, As a content creator, I am against the price rise of the .com domain, I remember as a new blogger, buying my domain name was a big deal, so if you rise the price the .com domain will make more difficult to new creator to start their blog. Thank you

I am apposed to this amendment which would allow for the increase in price on '.com' domains. This change would make access to a website much less accessible for many people. If the internet and having a site is not accessible then that goes against the point of the internet in my opinion. It should be available for the open and accessible exchange of information.

I completely oppose these proposed changes. The Internet is supposed to be a tool accessible to everyone. A price hike helps to cut out the lower end of the community and increases the divide between those with and without large amounts of wealth. Ben Boarder

For the record, I have no problem with prices going up over time, but the proposed changes seem excessive under the circumstances. Firstly, for a non-profit organization with the stated goals of promoting competition and broad community representation, the likelihood of these price increases having a substantial negative effect on those goals is very, very high. Secondly, the process was reputedly conducted in direct conflict with the ICANN mandate to conduct its mission through community consensus. If it's true that the negotiation of these price increases was exclusively between ICANN and Verisign, that is definitely inappropriate. I don't know the remedy for such malfeasance but am quite sure that there would be follow-up to correct such malfeasance if any. First the .org issue, now this? You seem rather money hungry and not interested in the health of the internet at large. Am I wrong? Given that you control a worldwide commodity good, it would be in good faith for you to put up large changes like this to a vote. The reason you don't is because it will probably fail to pass. Which makes me thing -- why are you doing something that the majority of internet operators don't want you to do?

I selected Namecheap because of their low cost and support in creating a website. If you are going to raise the cost over the next few years just because you can then I will pull the plug and go somewhere else. It is that simple. Micheal Routt

To whom it may concern, I am writing to state my disapproval of the new Verisign contract. ICANN has a responsibility to ensure domain name registration is competitive, and signing a deal like this with Verisign does the opposite, further enabling the Verisign monopoly. Allowing Verisign to both set the wholesale rates and compete against wholesalers is a blatant conflict of interest. I believe the changes will hurt the web community as a whole. I am shocked that ICANN would consider these changes, and further shocked ICANN has undertaken these changes without consulting the people it impacts. Shame on you. Regards, Elwyn Benson

Greetings, While in support of a strong infrastruction and continued improvements, I cannot support the proposed and approved increases that I have recently been reading about. In short, most of the clients that I currently do work for will be cancelling services and finding other ways to support their needs. We will start looking immediately for alternatives to the .com domain in particular and if prices do indeed rise as much as projected, many of the other domains will cost equivalent or less, so we might as well put our funds into something that is more recognizable to our clients. While not a a large service, my dozen paying clients will look elsewhere. Perhaps more importantly, the dozen or so not for profits and community service organizations will have to give up much of what they are doing, since things are stretched as it is. Thanks for your consideration of this note, and please reconsider your price structure changes. Todd Wright Ontario, Canada

I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. By allowing the prices to increase, you are ensuring that people with an idea, think twice about putting it on the internet. This stifles innovation, and competition. Hi there, I am extremely unhappy to hear that ICANN wants to increase prices on .com domains. This is seriously unfair to users because we already pay too much for a .com domain. Also, you cannot just go and increase the renewal fee so drastically?! If I bought my .com for R100, I expect it to renew for around R100 and not R170. I also expect it to be sustainable. The fact that ICANN can just make drastic decisions like these that will have a great impact on businesses is shocking. Please b do not raise your prices as we are already paying so much as it is. I oppose the implementation of the .com amendment 3 since I do not see the justification for raising the price of the .com domain extension. Hello I oppose the new verisign proposed contract. It is unfair to consumers. Domain names are one of the few telecoms and IT products and services that have got more expensive over time. Based on past contracts, it is clear the price will go up by the maximum at every opportunity. This is a legalised monopoly and extortion. Contracts should not be negotiated in secret to line icann’s pockets at the expense of millions of consumers. 20m dollars is also really a pittance given the profit verisign can make. Hi, I wanted to voice a comment against the increase in price for .com registrations. .com and other TLD registration prices continue to rise despite the industry maturing into a stable situation where it ought to be able to sustain service at the same price. I would argue that it is monopolistic to raise prices in this way as long as Verisign is a for-profit company. The market and consumes would be better served by the TLD operator being a non-profit and letting natural competition occur at the Registrar level. As long as Verisign, and other TLD Operators, have no competition then any price increase should be viewed with skepticism. Dan Smith
