I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. I oppose this decision at the 7% yearly incremental raise over the next decade and beyond. This decision will allow for too many repercussions across the internet and internet users, which is the majority of the global population. ICANN and Verisign need to communicate directly with their constituents and affiliates and partner organizations when changing matters that affect the global economy. Hello ICANN, I thought you were created to promote competitive prices and keep price caps on TLD. Now I find that this is not entirely true? Your selling all the TLD to a single Company and they have a right to raise the cost 8 out of 10 years. Making this a gold mine for this company. That's worse than Trumps policies. I would just like to know what I am reading is true? Patiently awaiting an answer that will tell me it isn't true that you are going against the reason you were created and doing this horrid act. To whom it may concern: Briefly, I oppose amendment as proposed, specifically the provisions that support: Verisign and ICANN may agree to amend the .COM Registry Agreement to permit an increase to the price for .COM registry services, up to a maximum of 7 percent in each of the final four years of each six-year period (the first six-year period commenced on October 26, 2018). Verisign’s role should be to perform a public service. Increases should be restricted to no more than inflationary adjustments and there should be no room for potential profit-taking from such service. Regards, Mitch Allen

ICANN, As a registrant of many .COM domains that are the lifeblood of my businesses, I am vigorously opposed to the Proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement. .COM are not just registered by big corporations with deep pockets. They are also registered by many, many micro and small businesses. Also I am on the Board of a number of non-profit organizations that also have .com domains registered to protect their domain name and brand. Price increases would also be devastating for them. I understand that .COM wholesale domain prices can grow by more than 70% over and above current prices over the next decade. The contract also allows for other price increases, which could drive prices up further, ultimately making .COM domains less accessible and more expensive for everybody. Please don't go forward with this agreement as it will hurt all of us who register .COM domains. I understand you are raising fees ... my question is why is this justified? How will the additional revenue benefit the internet consumer? Infrastructure to run the core of the internet is provided by commercial and government entities. It makes me very frustrated to hear that ICANN is considering an agreement with Verisign that will result in increased .COM domain fees over the next several years. I read tech news constantly and only found out about this recently. It appears ICANN worked on this without disclosing the idea to the public beforehand. Why? Shouldn't something like this be voted on by a larger group? The increased cost to domain's will hit small businesses and people with less money the hardest. I DO NOT support this move and suggest ICANN drops this agreement immediately. If ICANN needs more money, come up with a way to "tax" the most visited websites out there today. It's surprising to me that in this day an age you find it a good idea to work with a vendor who will *certainly* increase costs for a commoditized good (namely domains) in a market which is clearly going in the opposite direction. Not to mention this is almost a public right, since EVERY business relies on website and these days. Hi, One of the great benefits of the online space is the capability to start a business for much less than a brick and mortar startup. Increasing the fees for registering what equates to a storefront would be an unnecessary hindrance to small businesses. And don't be the guys behind closed doors figuring out how you can increase your own pockets at the expense of all the people that can't see what you are doing. Really, the constant squeezing of consumers that happens from the boardroom is ridiculous. I am sure you are all intelligent people or else you wouldn't be in a leadership position. You control the internet. People with dreams and ideas come and use the internet. To show of their talents, passions and ideas. As you know Registrars up charge a company from the current price for a domain. This is all good, but for a person with a dream this can be hard to pay that along with hosting fees. Raising that, raises our price exponentially. Tell me this, what’s the point of the Internet if you can’t enjoy it? What’s the point of dreaming if you can’t live. “... ICANN’s mission is to coordinate policy development related to Internet system of unique identifiers.” This is your own policy. By raising the price you will be getting farther away from your goal. If you are trying to help everybody using the Internet and future users let’s make that next step together and listen to the ones who use, it not the ones who can abuse it. -Sincerely N.B.
