I completely disagree any removal of price cap on any TLD, let alone .org domain. In fact, I would like the registration cost to go down because there is no reason to pay $9 markup on something that costs few cents. I see this as a way to give greenlight to few registrars so that they can charge whatever they like. I completely oppose the measure to remove price cap on .org domain.

I have owned two .org domain names since 2016 for a non-profit organization. I've maintained these personally during that timeframe because they are an organization that I volunteer with extensively and I know they can't afford additional vanities like this. However, in 2019 it is impossible to do non-profit work without having a domain name and e-mail addresses that match and are professional to work with our other volunteers and fundraising. If the prices increase, I will likely be forced to shift that cost to them rather than out of my pocket. I am only out a few dollars per month with the current DNS pricing, if the pricing increases 100x there is no way I can bare that burden anymore. I think other non-profits are likely in the same boat as myself, they have volunteers that are paying for these things to help the organization they work for free out. If you want to raise prices, raise them on the .com's for commercial domain names. They are able to afford the cost increases and they are for-profit anyway. Thanks, Michael McGurty

Hi Good day. Please do not let the Wholesale providers increase the domain prices to whatever price they want. We need to have a cap setup so that we are not paying too much. We trust in you to oversee the price cap and let us as end users stop paying so much for domains. Thanks, Rafael Sorto

Hello, I work for a small non-profit that educates professionals and the general public on how to make homes safer for health inside and out. We operate on thin margins and any increase in our costs makes it harder for us to support our important mission. While price hikes in general for something like domain names seems to be a simple cash grab, .orgs seem to be especially vulnerable and should be protected so the many worthy organizations that use them can continue to provide the services upon which so many depend. Though I don't particularly like the increase in the fees for any domain, allowing .org domain prices to grow unhindered just doesn't fit with the stated use of those domains. Although companies will grab the .org version of their domains, those domains are supposed to be for non-profits. The first domain that I grabbed when I started doing open source work nearly 20 years ago was a .org domain. My concern is that if prices are allowed to rise unhindered, only for-profit entities will be able to afford them. There is a lot of good being done by a lot of "little guys" in the world. The .org is generally construed as a charitable/non-profit/organizational domain, and thus the fees should reflect that. There needs to be firm pricing on all tld's to prevent profiteering and squatting

I am a domain name registrant, including of .org domains. I don’t believe ICANNs actions in the case of the .org domain (and other legacy .TLDs) are in line with the supposed “bottom up, multi-stakeholder model”. Instead, they appear to cater to the new breed of commercial registrars who are only out to make a buck. This model is totally inappropriate to the .org (and other legacy domains) that have operated effectively in a restrained, not for profit, model since their inception. There is no valid economic reason for removing the price caps or inserting the URS policy (a policy currently under intense debate by the ICANN Working Group even). No benefits will accrue to the actual end users who hold .org domains, and in the event of a change at PIR or perhaps a takeover of the operation of the .org domain by a different registrar for any reason, significant financial harm could occur to organizations who had no idea it was coming. And I don’t feel that existing registration of a domain protects existing domain holders adequately, it simply pushes the harm down the road to their next renewal date. Many of these organizations are not involved in the ICANN process either, and won’t have any inkling that the foundation of the agreement they entered into years ago has changed. In short, I oppose the changes to the legacy .org (and other legacy) agreements. While streamlining the registration agreements may be nice for ICANN, it has the potential to harm the millions of users of .org and other legacy domains. I feel ICANN should be standing up for these end users. They are, after all, the bottom up side of the stakeholder model, and should be prioritized even at the expense of a little more work for ICANN. Sincerely, -Darrell Budic

Please reconsider, there is no competition with registries. Every single time in history that there has been no competition with a monopoly people have suffered and only a few have profited. Please do not do this.
