The reason for these proposed amendments is that I think it would be helpful for future Councillors to be able to clearly see what the term of the appointment is from the resolution we pass, without having to consult the Request for Candidates. Without these changes, and with the reference to 2+2 terms in the recitals and to annual reviews, it's not entirely clear what happens at the end of the first 2-year term and might be assumed that there is an automatic reappointment. The Request for Candidates makes it clear that that is not the intent and that there will be a new selection process after two years (albeit that the appointee would be eligible and encouraged to apply).
