A number of people in my world interpreted the motion and intro text to mean it had GAC support. As for Stephanes comments, I hope not. Stephane? Unfortunately, however, hes identified in the article as being GNSO Council Chair so people reading the article will likely assume that he was speaking for (or with the endorsement of) the Council. om: Tim Ruiz [mailto:tim@godaddy.com] Sent: Monday, October 03, 2011 10:20 AM To: Rosette, Kristina Cc: council@gnso.icann.org Subject: RE: [council] Our Chair's quote in Managing Internet IP No one ever said the GAC endorsed the RrSG motion. And I doubt highly that Stephane presented his comments as the view of the Council.

"The GNSO's van Gelder concluded that brands must ensure that there is sufficient demand before proceeding with their application. 'Don't forget the sales channel and the marketing part of the TLD. You must butter up the registrars,' he said." I don't believe I got that memo. Perhaps it got lost along with the memo to the GAC seeking its endorsement of the RrSG motion . . .
