Dear all, Further to our conversation last week about the SSAD, there does seem to be some concern from ICANN org that it will be extremely expensive both to establish and to run. I'd like to throw the attached back into our thinking; as you may remember, Alex Deacon presented this idea to the Board back in October 2020, showing that we can get a disclosure request ticketing system up and running with existing software and thus at minimal cost. Perhaps it's time to revisit this idea? Hello Marie, As I understand there were no proper details provided of the costs, and during the most recent call it was something supported by many councillors (requesting the details, due to homework not done by ICANN Staff / ODP) so revisiting the idea seems to be bit early. Hi I agree that we need the actual cost details before we jump into any conclusions. Kind regards Kristian Ørmen

Hi Marie, While it's great to remember we have this alternative, I think it's premature to revisit this discussion until we have definitive guidance from the Board. As it stands, we don't actually know how the Board is thinking about these recommendations. To consider modifying approved recommendations is a significant step that should not be taken lightly and without complete information. Hi Marie! I have concerns about Council reacting to informal Staff inputs and by doing so baking into our process a method for Staff to informally (and perhaps accidently) veto Council recommendations before the Board votes. It is a pretty big deal for the Board to reject Council recommendations. I don’t like the optics or precedent of giving Staff an informal veto via ODP by Staff merely expressing concerns about cost, etc. I think it makes sense to let this play out. If the Board really does reject the Council’s recommendations, they will either ask Council to try again or we can take it upon ourselves to try again, if we want to.
