All – Please also see for your reference the attached notes provided by the ccNSO support staff. Kind regards, Julie From: <gnso-csc-bounces@icann.org> on behalf of Julie Hedlund <julie.hedlund@icann.org> Date: Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 6:09 PM To: WUKnoben <wolf-ulrich.knoben@t-online.de>, "gnso-csc@icann.org" <gnso-csc@icann.org> Subject: [Gnso-csc] URGENT: Revised Draft Message to GNSO Council to Transmit Final CSC Member and Liaison List Dear Wolf-Ulrich and CSC Selection Committee members, Based on the call that just ended just now between the ccNSO and GNSO CSC Selection Committees see below some brief notes that I captured. Also, based on the suggestion to highlight the concerns with the process in our message to the GNSO Council I have amended the message accordingly below (changes in red). Please review the revised message ASAP but no later than COB Wednesday, 03 August so that we can send it (Wolf-Ulrich or me on his behalf) no later than 04 August if possible. Please also consider whether some of the language below could form the basis of the transmission letter/announcement from the ccNSO/GNSO to ICANN/NTIA/CWG and the community. Thanks so much for all your help! Kind regards, Julie Notes: · ccNSO and GNSO Selection Committees support the full slate. · Concerned that the limitations of the process prevent the ability to expand diversity. · Suggest that the process be amended in future to ensure that the process allows time to ensure a diverse set of candidates is encouraged to apply. · Concerned about the lack of EOI and other for the GAC liaison candidate. · No need for a meeting on 04 August. · GNSO will hold a vote to be completed on 09 August. · By 10 August the ccNSO and GNSO will send a letter to ICANN/CWG/communities and post as an announcement -- pointing out that the process should be considered in the review of the CSC Charter. ---------- Subject: For Vote: Final List of CSC Members and Liaisons Dear Councilors, Following the evaluation by the ccNSO and GNSO Selection Committees, please see the attached final list of the full slate of CSC liaisons and members for the upcoming vote outside a meeting to be held by the Council beginning not later than 06 August and closing 09 August. This list will be linked to the previously submitted motion for the vote at: https://community.icann.org/display/gnsocouncilmeetings/Motions+9+August+201.... As noted previously, the GNSO Council requested that the GNSO CSC Selection Committee shall engage, if requested, with the ccNSO Selection Committee to evaluate the full slate of CSC members and liaisons. The GNSO and ccNSO CSC Selection Committees met on 02 August to consider the CSC liaisons and members. Following that meeting the GNSO CSC Selection Committee sends via this message to the GNSO Council the recommended list of CSC liaisons and members. Although the GNSO and ccNSO CSC Selection Committees recommend approval of the full slate of CSC liaisons and members to our respective Councils, we do have concerns with the timing of the process. We suggest that these concerns also should be raised to ICANN and the community when the ccNSO and GNSO convey their joint approval as a formal statement. First, both the ccNSO and GNSO Selection Committees agreed that although the full slate of members and liaisons fully embodies the skills and general diversity necessary for their roles, the extreme time limitation for the selection process may have limited a broader diversity of candidates from being encouraged to apply. Furthermore, some potential candidates may not have applied due to the lack of time for outreach to address questions or concerns about the skills needed for the member and liaison roles. The ccNSO and GNSO Selection Committee have noted that in the future review of the CSC Charter the membership process should be amended to address the above mentioned issues. As noted above, the attached list is subject to the vote of the Council after which the ccNSO and GNSO Councils will provide the final list to ICANN not later than 10 August. Kind regards, Wolf-Ulrich
