Dear SSC members, The SSC has an outstanding action item to finalize proposed Charter revisions to send to the GNSO Council. Attached please find the current revision. The attached document includes all revisions that appear to have full support from all SSC members at this time. Note that recent discussions have focused on a proposal to temporarily keep all SSC deliberations confidential during a selection process. As this proposal did not receive full consensus support, it is not included on the attached. The leadership team proposes one final additional sentence under Committee Formation, Dependencies, & Dissolution: “The SSC may request of the GNSO Council a review of the Charter annually or if the members identify a need for a specific review.” This will allow the SSC to revisit the charter and propose additional changes in the future. Please review the attached document carefully. Hi I am confused about the phrase removed about the staggering of the working group and term-limits. I thought there would be a note that the original members had their 1 year counted after charter approval. There seems to be even a mention of 3 years. I do not oppose 1 year term, removable for 2 years. Hi Renata, My understanding is that the group agreed to a 1-year term, renewable for a second year. The SSC can specify in the motion that goes with the revised charter that it considers the period up until AGM 2017 to be a “ramp up” period. The first term therefore runs between AGM 2017 through AGM 2018, with the option of a 1-year renewal. In the original charter, the possibility was left open that some members would serve longer terms, so that membership could be staggered. I believe the group agreed that this will not be necessary, as processes are well documented at this point, so it should be relatively easy for new SSC members to come in and pick up where departing members have left off.
