I agree with you that the given example must be either adjusted or the comparison removed. I would suggest the former and use the Myanmar Letter Wa (and Latin O). Since we already decided those two to be variants, it could allow us to look at the relation of Dotless I and Sign Sgaw Karen Eu, even though a second letter will be present in the example.
