ICANN is the platform where the world’s Internet technical community gathers to coordinate key resources that make the Internet function, chiefly domain names, and associated numbers and protocols. Over the past three years the Internet has been undergoing historical changes. From the rollout of new domains, known as generic Top Level Domains (‘new gTLDs’) such as .abudhabi, representing one of the biggest changes to the Internet since its inception, to the shaping of the Internet’s future through a major evolution in its governance via an empowered global community.
