Hi all, I also support Tijani's proposal with regard to Neustar's proposal especially that the input of the community is required in this regard Thanks Hadia From: MEAC.ICANN [mailto:meac.icann-bounces@aratld.org] On Behalf Of Tijani BEN JEMAA Sent: Friday, January 11, 2019 11:57 AM To: Nadira Alaraj Cc: MEAC ICANN; meac.swg@icann.org Subject: Re: [MEAC ICANN] ICANN 64 ME Space: Call for topics Dear all, Thank you all those who proposed topics, and I hope more proposals will be made before the deadline. In my personal capacity, I would like to propose that the ICANN 64 ME Space address the proposal made by Neustar regarding the upcoming new gTLD application round. You can learn about this proposal from Donna Austin through an article that she wrote on Circle ID where she tried to explain the proposal http://www.circleid.com/posts/20181014_new_tld_subsequent_procedures_a_propo... The Universal Acceptance is an important topic, especially with the IDNs, but it is an ongoing process, and I don’t know what we can add by our statement except if there are decisions that we find bad or trend toward adopting wrong decisions (I don’t see this happening now). The proposal of Neustar is a little bit problematic in my opinion and needs us to address it since the Chair of the SubProc subgroup A asked for the opinion of the ICANN constituencies about it. Of couse, this is only a proposal from a member of the community. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tijani BEN JEMAA Executive Director Mediterranean Federation of Internet Associations (FMAI) Phone: +216 98 330 114 +216 52 385 114 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Le 10 janv. 2019 à 21:46, Nadira Alaraj <nadira.araj@gmail.com<mailto:nadira.araj@gmail.com>> a écrit : Dear All, As I was writing down the suggested topics, such as ICANN strategy, and the Budget, I've checked the closing dates of the public comments it will be by Feb 11 and Feb 8th, those dates doesn't match with the schedule below to have the final draft statement ready for final discussion and approval at Kobe meeting. This doesn't mean that we eliminate such suggestions but to encourage the formation of a group to work on the Strategy or the Budget to publish the statement before the closing time of the public comments. As for the ME Space community topics, it would be good to take into consideration the schedule below and the release of a timely statement that is not overdue which will loose its impact. Any other thoughts are welcomed, Best wishes, Nadira On Tue, Jan 8, 2019, 19:48 Tijani BEN JEMAA <tijani.benjemaa@topnet.tn<mailto:tijani.benjemaa@topnet.tn> wrote: Dear all, Preparing for the ME Space in Kobe, Nadira Alaraj and myself would like to propose you the following timeline: ICANN 64 ME Space 08 - 18 January Call for topics 21 January Announcement of the selected Topic 21 - 31 January Call for volunteers for the drafting team 04 February Announcement of the drafting team composition 05 - 13 February Drafting of the statement (1st draft). 13 February Publishing of the 1st draft for comments 14 - 21 February Comment period for the 1st draft of the statement 22 - 28 February Drafting of the final version 01 March Final draft published We therefore call on you to propose your preferred topic to be addressed at ICANN 64 in Kobe.
