Middle East Space at ICANN Hamburg - Announcement & Call for Drafting Team

Dear Middle East Group Members, We hope this message finds you well. We are excited to announce that the chosen topic for the Middle East space during the upcoming ICANN meeting in Hamburg will be DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions). As many of you are aware, DNSSEC is pivotal in enhancing the security and trustworthiness of the domain name system, ensuring data integrity and authentication. Given the profound significance of this topic and its relevance to the region, we are committed to ensuring a comprehensive and in-depth discussion. Therefore, we are sending out a Call for Drafting Team. Purpose of the Drafting Team: Collaborate to outline the key discussion points surrounding DNSSEC, focusing on its implications, challenges, and opportunities specific to the Middle East region. Aid in the preparation of material and resources for the session, ensuring a structured and impactful conversation. Provide a regional perspective, considering the diverse experiences and insights of the Middle East community. Requirements: Prior knowledge and understanding of DNSSEC and its implications. (All knowledge levels welcome) Commitment to collaborating with other team members and contributing constructively. Ability to participate in person/ virtual meetings leading up to ICANN Hamburg 78, Dated 21-26 October 2023. If you're interested in joining the drafting team or if you have any recommendations, please respond to this email by Wednesday 20 September 2023. MEAC School on Internet Governance 2023 - Call for Applications

Friends and Colleagues, The MEAC School on Internet Governance 2023 (MEAC-SIG 2023) is offering an eight-week series of online courses, followed by a three-day in-person intensive program covering core Internet governance issues. The eight weeks of virtual courses will be offered on different learning platforms from 1 October until 25 November, 2023. The in-person component will take place in Muscat, Oman, on 18–20 December, 2023. We invite academicians; representatives of civil society, government and public sector, the technical community, and the private sector from the Middle East and Adjoining Countries (MEAC) (22 Arab States, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan) to take advantage of this unique opportunity. Applicants must meet the following conditions: Must be a citizen of the MEAC region or currently residing in the MEAC region; Must not have attended any past SIGs; Must complete all tracks of the eight-week virtual program (online courses and webinars); Must attend all three days of the in-person program; and Must fill out the below application form in its entirety. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Attendance at MEAC-SIG 2023 is free of charge. Completion of all courses in the eight-week virtual track (both online courses and webinars) is required to qualify to attend the three-day in-person program. The application period will be open until 4 September 2023 at 23.59 UTC. The MEAC-SIG 2023 agenda is being populated at https://meacsig.org/agenda.
