Well, at least SOMEBODY is trying to move things forward! I don't care if its an "artificial" deadline or not. Sometimes you just need some kind of a deadline for people to move on stuff. Gads, this is the very last RALO to be formed. It seems that things NEED to be moved forward.
Danny, as for your comment about ALSs that aren't involved in the current process, do you mean to say that there are North American ALSs out there that are not on this list? If they are on this list then they are "involved" in my mind - they can see all of the e-mails.

You are pushing the process just to meet an artifically imposed deadline. This is irresponsible.
There are some ALSs that aren't even involved in the current process... has anyone even bothered to contact them, or tried to bring them up to speed, or asked them for their views? And what about the candidate ALSs that might want to have the opportunity to join in? This whole process is suffering from a rushed ad hoc approach just because ICANN wants a major photo op at San Juan.
If you're going to do this, take the time to get it done right.

I would like to make sure we all realize we are on a rather tight schedule if we want to ratify creation of the NARALO in San Juan. Remember that once we have agreed on both our OP and MOU, ICANN legal has to OK the MOU (which will take sometime) and then our MOU has to go through a 21-day public comment period. Only then can signature by ICANN and ALSes happen. The San Juan meeting is June 25-29, which doesn't leave us much time.

Where are we at now?
We are discussing our Operating Principles because before we do anything else, we need to agree on how we'll go doing this. Our schedule calls for approval of our OP before 2007.04.27, which leaves us 2 weeks, which also puts us before any pre-San Juan meeting, so we have to do this online. In order to approve our OP we need to vote, thus the first action item in our Formation Schedule (see link above) is for every certified ALS and the group of individual users to name their 2 voting representatives and enter them at HYPERLINK
