I must say there has been quite an amount of activity on this list this week. It took a while for me to catch-up... Having followed most, if not all of the RALO processes in the other regions - I think we are at a stage where a meeting of ALS's in the region could actually be quite useful. Though considerable differences of opinion have been expressed on this list, the wiki documents are - more or less stable. Might I suggest that a meeting of some kind be arranged in May so that we can discuss not only how ALS from the region can engage better in ICANN processes, but also review the wiki documents, and develop a detailed agenda for a larger get together in San Juan this coming June. Where can a May meeting take place ? well I would suggest that a combination of modalities be used (face to face, teleconference, etc) so that as many organizations as possible on both sides of the border can participate. On this list, and privately to Jacob - i've mentioned that a meeting in early may in Montréal could be a far better venue than Yonkers. Why, well, for many reasons - the airport is far batter connected, canada is a cheaper destination, and - more importantly the dates would coincide with the 17th Annual computers, freedom & privacy conference (CFP). CFP tends to always bring together a very internet & ICANN saavy crowd, and as such good feedback and comments could be obtained . Some discussions could take place @ CFP, with a follow-up full day on the 5th and/or 6th . Luc has organized numerous events in montreal, and most - if not all - have incorporated remote participation (see links below). So with a bit of advance prep, and ICANN's support, a consultation similar to the one that took place in french in Nov for ALS's in Canada can be organized . http://flickr.com/photos/amicalmant/304234134/in/pool-na-alac/ http://flickr.com/photos/amicalmant/sets/72157594388483091/ http://flickr.com/groups/na-alac/pool/ As I've mentioned earlier, I've already been in touch with Jacob in regards to a change of venue to montreal. Would be good to get an update from him is a meeting change is indeed possible and how reimbursement logistics could be arranged so that any reimbursements are done quickly and efficiently. Look forward to comments. regards, Robert --- Robert Guerra <rguerra@privaterra.org> Managing Director, Privaterra Tel +1 416 893 0377 On 15-Apr-07, at 3:47 PM, RJGlass | America@Large wrote:
I am in favor of San Juan. However, I can't possibly make it to Yonkers.

So far we have six in favour of meeting in person in advance of San Juan:
1. Mr. Miranda 2. ISOC Puerto Rico 3. Robert and Luc - provided it's in Montreal 4. Mr. Evans 5. Our intrepid Nunavut rep Darlene
additional takers?
