Avri, it has been the ALAC and NARALO practice essentially since the organizations started to treat positions for which there is only one candidate as acclaimed. The nominations were open for a full month prior to this action being taken. Moreover the rules for both organizations call for consensus decisions and only resorting to a vote if there is clearly no consensus (in both cases it is the Chair's call). We certainly could have a rule that all selections must go to a vote including "none of the above", but it is currently neither a rule nor tradition. Feel free to propose it.
