Dear RSSAC Caucus Members, On behalf of the RSSAC Caucus Local Perspective Tool Work party, please find RSSAC0XX: Requirements for Measurements of the Local Perspective on the Root Server System attached for your review. Please provide any comments either to the list or in the Google doc by August 18, 2021. There were a few comments received on our last work party call on August 2nd. Ken and I believe we have addressed them all. Barring any blocking comments received, the plan is to have this document ready for an RSSAC vote in their September 7th meeting. Greetings again. I was not active in the work party, but I have done some review passes on the document late in the process. I still have a deep concern about the part in the middle where timings of some sort from open public resolvers are made. I put a comment in this near-final document, but have not seen any significant discussion. If RSSAC wants to do these probes, it would be really good if their use was explained in the document. --Paul Hoffman

Thank you for your message Paul. The review period for this document ended today. But it sounds like we need more discussion on this point that Paul has brought up. This is the only remaining significant issue left to be resolved in the document, so it would be great if we could resolve it quickly. It seems like there are two options: 1) Add more justification and explanation for why these queries to open resolvers are included. 2) Remove the queries to open resolvers from the document.
