I noticed that there is a suggestion for a 3-day face-to-face meeting in MDR in September. I assume that would be around 20-22 Sep. Is that correct? Would there be interest in doing this in Europe? I ask because the following week is the IGF and Nairobi is considerably easier to reach from Europe than the West Coast of the US. I could look into our hosting at one of our EU sites (London, Berlin, Paris) if we are interested. Hi Bill Thanks. You raise a good point about the proximity with the IGF meeting. From a personal perspective, of course, I would prefer it to be in Europe ;-) The meeting in MdR has been planned since January - the suggestion in the 1:1s was to make it 3 days rather than 2 days. I think this is sensible, as we will have a lot to do. However, the reasoning behind the original choice of MdR is still relevant: - It's much easier and less costly for ICANN to cover (eg hotel rooms, wireless, and audio streaming), and my understanding is that work has already been done in this regard. - The West Coasters and Peter had dreadful jetlag for the London meeting, Sarmad said it was equally as bad to travel to London or LA, and it was thought to be fairer to make the Europeans suffer for once! I'm not sure, apart from you and me, how many others within the RT are planning to attend this year's IGF in Nairobi? On the assumption that it is only we two attending the IGF, I am in favour of holding the arrangement as is. I do not intend to go to the IGF. But, as I noticed in March already, I will have a collsion with a security- related meeting in Luxemburg. But given that September is pretty close to the scheduled end of the RT4 activities, I will probably be giving priority to MdR; assuming that one of my colleagues is able to cover Luxemburg.
