A very important part of the process is devoted to interviews of the shortlisted candidates. What is required for each position is publicly known during the call for applications. Each year, the profile the board or other positions are looking for is different. As I said earlier, our candidates' profiles were very good but they did not always apply for the position that was most suited to them, or they had problems answering questions during the interviews. The answer to Seun's question about representation is Yes, the NOMCOM members consider geographic representation and also gender when doing their selection but not over quality. Let me suggest here to AFRALO officers to have a permanent agenda item on this matter on every monthly meeting, starting next meeting. How representative could this result be? This negates the democratic credentials of ICANN, and a marginalization of the African Region and it is not late for a review and a candidate from amongst the Nine nominations receieved from Africa considered.

These six extraordinary leaders were from the 58 exceptionally high quality Statements of Interest that were received and fully completed in the extremely short (less than 60 days) application process. This year the application process itself was completely overhauled and a new online (wiki based) system developed by the 2014 Nominating Committee was piloted. We also continued to build on the changes seen from last year's NomCom relating to greater transparency and accountability, by having more open meetings, regular reporting to the community throughout the process and we hope developing greater trust and understanding of what ICANN's NomCom does. In our public meeting during ICANN 51 in Los Angeles we will deliver a full and comprehensive report and we look forward to having more community feedback and interaction then."
