Board approved Resolutions March 9&10
Dear ALAC, The ICANN board meeting resolutions from March 9 and 10 March have been posted: https://www.icann.org/resources/board-material/resolutions-2016-03-09-en https://www.icann.org/resources/board-material/resolutions-2016-03-10-en You will be able to see the list of venues for ICANN meetings up till 2018 from the resolutions on March 9. The main resolutions on March 10 focus on the IANA Stewardship Transition proposals. Best regards, Rinalia
Hi Rinalia, Thanks so much for this information. It is really very helpful. As the Zika virus is also in Puerto Rico it is likely that the Oct meeting will also be moved. As Naralo had planned a general assembly to be collocated with this icann meeting we are hoping it stays within region. As we are starting to plan for this GA it would be helpful to learn ASAP of any change in venue. Any insignt into when will this decision be made? Many thanks Best, Judith Sent from my iPad Judith@jhellerstein.com Skype ID: judithhellerstein

Judith, When the topic appears on a board meeting agenda, I will let the ALAC know. At the moment, no change, but the situation is being monitored. The Board will meet in April for its strategy retreat with the new CEO. It is likely that we will be updated on status of the meeting then. Thanks Rinalia. For those who cannot read through the detailed recommendations from 9 March, here's the list: 2017 ICANN60 (19th AGM) 28 Oct - 3 Nov 2017 Abu Dhabi AP ICANN59 | Policy Forum 26-29 Jun 2017 Johannesburg AF ICANN58 11-16 Mar 2017 Copenhagen EUR 2016 ICANN57 (18th AGM) 29 Oct - 4 Nov 2016 San Juan NA ICANN56 | Policy Forum 27-30 Jun 2016 Helsinki EUR I am really surprised that with LAC having lost the Panama meeting to Europe, ICANN58 was not going to be swapped back to LAC. Hi Rinalia, Thanks for your note. I too am surprised that they are not going to LAC as i thought they would go in 2018. If they do not have it in PR or in North America we also will not have a meeting in region until 2019. Also as you recall we the board only funded one GA last year and we let Euralo have it since the Dublin meeting was in their region. If they cancel PR and go out of region again we will not have a GA for several years. If you could remind people about that it would be great. Also as Naralo is not able to get fellows we have a harder time getting new young people interested and engaged in ICANN and in Naralo and had been counting on the Next Gen program to introduce icann to university fellows in the region. If the meeting goes our of region than we also lose these next gen fellows. If they can keep that in mind, we would greatly appreciate it Cheers!! Judith, perhaps I have missed something, but on what are you basing the assumption that there cannot be a meeting in NA or LAC until 2019? Accordingto https://meetings.icann.org/en/calendar, both NA and LAC are on the rotation for 2018. Alan At 15/03/2016 07:35 AM, Judith Hellerstein wrote:

Regarding ICANN58, I presume that plans for the Copenhagen meeting were well underway when the Panama meeting was cancelled. This is the first time in many years (or perhaps ever!) that we are planning meetings this far out. For many reasons, it is really great. But the down side is that if there is a change such as for Panama and perhaps PR, you cannot just change a upcoming meeting to compensate.
