Dear Review Team Members, Attached is the Final Report - Draft #1 for your review. It incorporates all changes submitted to date. Staff would appreciate your review to ensure that your edits were accurately reflected in the report. Several aspects of the report require further work: * Executive Summary language to be updated - ATRT2 * Summary of public comment for several recommendations to be added - ATRT2 * Synchronization of final recommendations between Executive Summary and body of the report - staff * Formatting clean up - Table of Contents update, links from Executive Summary to the body of the report, etc. - staff Staff proposes that the Review Team discuss and resolve the following points during the upcoming call: 1. Inclusion of Draft Recommendations, along with Final Recommendations, in the body of the report 2. Boilerplate text if there's nothing to report for Public Comment section. Paul's suggestion: "There were no specific public comments on this issue, and/or any comments received were in agreement with the Report's findings." 3. Posting of Final Report - with or without translations? In considering the timing, please note that ICANN is closed for the holidays 24 December through 1 Jan and some staff may not be available during this time. Best regards, Larisa B. Edits post meeting of Friday the 13th.

Hi, I made my changes in the file indicated by staff on Friday. I took some of the Staff recommended language, but in some cases either left the original language or produced new language that tried to take concerns brought up by the Staff and community comment into account. I have not yet gone back and updated the template based sections based on community comments. After finishing the reading will go back and do that. avri

Board/GAC joint work on ATRT 2 reccs: suggested language

Dear colleagues, As you know, there has been some back and forth to find the right wording for the ATRT 2 to make recommendations to the Board regarding the GAC. In the discussion the ATRT 2 held with the GAC in Buenos Aires, the Egyptian co-chair of the Board-GAC Recommendation Implementation Working Group reminded the RT about the successful joint effort in the WG to consider and implement the ATRT 1 reccs. Since this approach worked very well, the BGRI could again serve as the channel for such joint consideration of the ATRT 2 reccs, which leads me propose text along the lines of, "The ATRT recommends that the Board work jointly with the GAC to consider...". Dear ATRT2, As a follow up to Brian's request, please take a look at staff's proposed changes to the structure<Report%20Body%20with%20expanded%20headings%20to%20clarify%20numbering%20of%20recommendations,%20report%20sections%20and%20include%20broad%20categories%20of%20each%20recommendation.> of the Final Report. The objective was to expand headings to clarify numbering of recommendations, report sections and include broad categories of each recommendation; while keeping the number sequence of the report the same as it was in the Draft report. Hello all, please find my suggestion for Recommendation 8: At the moment the recommendation says: /8. To support public participation, ICANN should review capacity of the language services department versus the Community need for the service, and make relevant adjustments such as improving translation quality and timeliness and implementing continuous improvement via benchmarking of procedures used by international organizations. / /(Re: encouraging multilingualism (ATRT1 18, 19, 22); Report Section 10)/ I suggest amending this to something even a little more demanding: 8. To support public participation, ICANN should review capacity of the language services department versus the Community need for the service using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and make adjustments such as improving translation quality and timeliness. ICANN should implement continuous improvement of translation and interpretation services via benchmarking of procedures used by international organizations such as the United Nations. I have presented this to both Lise Fuhr and Fiona Asonga and they were fine with this amendment. Please be so kind to also find attached the document which Lise and Fiona sent me with their suggestions for the detailed section about Language Services.
