Update Selection process CCWG Accountability
Dear all, Please find included the updated selection process, taking into account Lesley's and Nigel comments. I suggest we follow the procedure as laid down for this selection process. If need to it will be further refined once this selection process is closed. In a separate I will inform you on the candidates. Kind regards, Bart
_If five (5) or fewer candidates_have nominated to become member, Council will asked by the secretariat to take a decision by email before *2 December 2014, 23.59 UTC*.
To be totally correct, this has to read either (if the passive voice is preferred): "If five (5) or fewer candidateshave been nominated for membership . . .! or; alternatively (in the event that you prefer the active voice): "If proposers have nominated 5 or fewer candidates . . ." Nigel PS: (A trivial aside you might enjoy . . ) Full marks for the use of "fewer"; it is is precise, elegant and 100% correct --- most native-speakers in the British Islands (including, to my shame, me, when I'm not paying attention) more often, and quite incorrectly, use the word "less" instead these days. My observations are that there are five candidates who applied. There are five positions. If this was an election (which technically it isn't) then all five would be elected unopposed. I submit that in taking its decision, Council should take the view that the presumption must be that all five candidates should be selected and appointed to the five open positions UNLESS there is an obvious lack in any of the candidates that suggest that he (or she) does not have the relevant criteria AND the work of the group would be adversely affected if he (or she) were appointed. My view ----------- Not only do I think that is NOT the case, but positively that we have a group of 5 of the most experienced and wise heads in ccTLD-land. That being said, all I need now to say is that I propose Council select all five and appoint them to the group. Nigel On 11/29/2014 11:32 AM, Bart Boswinkel wrote:
