ICANN82 ccNSO Members Meeting | Update on "How We Meet"

Hi Molehe and Jodi, I think it was briefly mentioned in our meetings, but just to be on the safe side and to ensure all are aware: it would be highly appreciated if you could provide an update on the “how we meet” topic to the ccTLD community during the Seattle ccNSO Members Meeting. We allocated a 30 min. slot for you during the Welcome Session on Tuesday, 11 March (09:00-10:00 local, UTC -7). Enclosed is the ccNSO block schedule for Seattle. As Bart mentioned, we are happy to help you if there are any particular questions where you seek input from the audience. I understand it is still early days, but we could easily create a mentimeter poll to use during the session, for example. The session will have interpretation, which means that the ccNSO secretariat will need to submit materials to the language services team well ahead of the session. Therefore, here is a heads up that the cut-off date for slides to be ready is 4 March, noon UTC. I did have one thought on the topics – I think there is some value in having both operational and governance topics covered at each meeting point. Perhaps both operational and governance overviews could be included as a high level as part of the introduction at the start of the date round session, then either operational or governance could be a focus as the presenters/hosts drill down. I also had one question – are there particular things the ccNSO would like to learn from the GAC through the speed dating exercise? I can see the value in better educating the GAC on the breadth and variety of ccTLD models, and would expect the GAC to ask questions at each meeting point. I am also keen to ensure the ccNSO also have the opportunity to seek information from the GAC as well, and if so, it would be good to prepare my colleagues to respond to questions. We formed a non-profit, Edgemoor Research Institute, and created Project Jake. Our website is https://www.edgemoorresearch.org . In conjunction with CircleID, we have scheduled a pair of webinars on 6 Feb and 27 Feb to share our results publicly. The CircleID announcement is now on their website at https://circleid.com/posts/beyond-whois-towards-a-new-framework-of-internet… The zoom link to the webinar will be posted later, and we will send a follow up announcement. We are not proposing specific policies. Instead, we are proposing a framework and model for representing policies. The framework and model are intended to accommodate a wide range of policies across the ccTLD, gTLD and RIR spaces. This work has been outside of the formal ICANN policy development process but has involved a number of people from some of the ICANN constituencies. And although our work has been carried out separately from the ICANN policy development policy process, we believe the concepts and approach are applicable to the gTLD registration data policies for collection and disclosure. Going back to your question, I had the impression that you wanted a call between the NomCom and the ccNSO leadership, but if you prefer to address the whole ccNSO Council at its next call on 13 February at 12:00 UTC, I can reserve a 15 min slot for you. The main difference would be the time available to answer any questions. Which one do you prefer?
