I am a very small domainer (I invest in domain names as a business). I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. I hope you reconsider this extreme increase for the benefit of internet users and small business. Thank you. The proposed price increase of .com is unfair to the non business user, more so than anyone else. Explain to me how your costs of increased? The infrastructure is there already, this is just a money grab so you can keep yourself, or propel yourself, in the top 1 percent. Granted as a non-business user, I suppose I have the option to let my .com lapse, but I have had it for years and use it for my personal email. As a registrant of many domains, I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains as no one other than Verisign wants and increase in .COM prices. As ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest, Verisign has no business dictating prices. If Verisign no longer wants to be the manager of the .COM registry due to the pricing of .COM domains at $7.85, which is already too high, then there should be a public bid for a new registry to take over. Furthermore, prices should be locked in for at least a 10 year period and prices should decrease over time and not keep rising as all the .COM registry does is maintain a database of information, and not much more...
