I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. As a small business owner who maintains my own website, I am deeply concerned about the proposed price increases on .com domains. If prices continue to increase unchecked, this TLD — generally regarded as the most recognizable and desirable — will inevitably become unaffordable to everyone but large, wealthy companies. Large companies, especially tech giants like Google and Amazon, already exert an outsize influence on the web, which already threatens its ideal of an open, level, equal-access network. Please do not add to the web’s increasing stratification by making .com domains more and more expensive. Thank you, Jay Perry

I am sure you guys have some justification for this Move that will impact .com prices. But you should have consulted with the other players in the business. I am asking that you pause any move to advance this position until and industry wide consultation takes place. Best Chad

Considering how many previous negative comments were ignored, I fully expect this one to be ignored as well. However, randomly raising prices in an opaque process that is nothing more than a cash grab and futile attempt to go back to the bad old days of having a single entity controlling .com (and other) domains is a great way to guarantee eventual government legislation and possibly even oversight, to protect consumer's rights and the Internet at large, so you should reconsider your current schemes to raise prices with no obvious benefit to anyone besides ICANN and Verisign. - L. I am concerned to hear about ICANN and proposed increases for my Domain name because they the price could go up by 70% over the next decade.
