I strongly oppose the proposed amendment. While I agree that some price increase should be allowed to keep up with inflation, but allowing an increase of 7% for 8 out of 10 years in the next decade in preposterous. Especially since Verisign has a monopoly over the .com registry. Even taking into account the price freeze since 2012, an average inflation rate of about 2% should lead to about an increase of 43% over 18 years (2012–2030). The proposed amendment allows Verisign to increase prices by up to 72%, which is unacceptable. Dear reader, The use of my .com is for private purposes only, not in use for commercial use, nor organisationall.. private only. The price at this momemt is just affordable by me... Going up means i have to give this up... any other extension is already taken by someone else so i am unable to have any other link to my family name. I have registered several domains. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. As other companies would almost certainly be bidding at a lower price for the rights to maintain the .com registry if permitted to do so. Giving one company a monopoly is bad enough, but potentially authorizing increases far in excess of inflation or their costs is truly offensive. You represent the public's interest. Please do your job. Taking a little bit more from a lot of people and giving it all to a company that has a monopoly just doesn't make sense. Regards, Vardan Vardanyan

Poor and under-represented individuals worldwide benefit from inexpensive .COM (and other) domain names. They allow these persons to stand on equal footing with even the largest corporate entities. Please do not discourage these opportunities; reject all attempts to raise the registration cost for the .COM TLD.
