Dear Sir/ Madam, We are writing this email in regard to Proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement. We would like to request ICANN to relook at their pricing structure which will drive the price up for many users. Many domain users like us will be affected by the increase in prices and thus making it more expensive to run our domain. This in turn will affect the users that visit our website which have been used to seeing the .COM at the end of the domain name. It has become a mainstream domain name and we would like to keep using it however, the price increment is not favourable and we request ICANN to reconsider. Thanking you in advance. I would like to voice concern and objection to this amendment. There is no business in allowing verisign to dictate prices. There was a reason the freeze was in place to avoid monopoly and other unfairness. Margin should still be healthy. Please act more like a not-for-profit. >From a consumer standpoint, the lack of technical explaination as to why the cherrypicking of verisign and price increase seems very shady at best. Dear Sir, I am a domainer (I invest in domain names as a business). I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. I am against this amendment as it currently stands. I do not agree with the idea that .COM domains prices must be raised. It seems that Verisign benefits from this agreement, while ICANN receives $20 million with no oversight or clarity on how that money will be spent, and the general public is meant to shoulder the burden that this agreement will create. There should be more clarity and transparency regarding how the $20 million will be used, and an open discussion about options moving forward rather than a deal made behind closed doors with a brief period of public comment. I am against increasing prices for domain names. The system already works against someone like me who only wants to own and use my own name as my domain name for my own non-profit purposes, but I had to buy it from someone else. Increasing prices for individuals like me is unfair and unnecessary. Please focus on targeting large, for-profit businesses, if this increase is truly necessary. Monique Smith
