The costs for maintaining a secure and simple database which has been maintained now for almost 3 decades (that I can recall since I started owning and managing domains in 1993) should be declining and not increasing. You can make a case for increased security but give me a break ! At best you can raise for inflation but only from the lowest your rates ever were. ICANN has done a good job but there is no need to start screwing the industry and everyone involved (see the whole world) just because you can. This amendment is monopolistic, greedy, a blatant conflict of interest with Verisign. It is unfair to hosting providers and it is unfair to users. It reflects poorly on ICANN and your mission. There will be backlash. There will be consequences. Maybe there will be a new ICANN that doens't use Verisign. Then you'll have a real reason to raise rates to pay for the legal battles you'll be fighting with every country that uses the internet. Deep Puri

Don’t increase the domain site prices. Keep internet accessible to the people. Internet should be considered a right and anyone should be able to participate in the space that allows freedom of information. By increasing the prices you will negatively impact this accessibility and thus hurt the freedom it brings. Instead focus on prevention of domain dominance of bots that buy them to make profit.

We would like to request ICANN to relook at their pricing structure which will drive the price up for many users. Many domain users like us will be affected by the increase in prices and thus making it more expensive to run our domain. Hello, I think the rate of price increase for .com domains should be tied directly to cost of administration. DNS is essentially a public utility, and should be priced as such. The language of the amendment should reflect that. I don’t actually mind the 7% per year maximum, as long as the primary criteria for changing rates is tied to the actual cost. I like that Verisign will contribute $20 million to improve DNS security. And I like that work is being put into the RDAP protocol. It’s not explicitly stated, but I hope that RDAP can help make domain privacy “add ons” obsolete, and provide some of the same benefit by default. IF ICANN does this, it will impact MILLIONS of domain users and Millions of people CAN be catalyzed to strong opposition lobbying efforts with voices in THOSE VERY same MILLIONS of .com sites to demand removal of ICANN authority due to breach of fiduciary trust for personal (corporate) gain. The deal with VeriSign is structured in such a way as to be perceived as a bribe. Times are changing whereas decisions made to impact multitudes by the few will be tolerated and accepted. Inquiries into ANTI-TURST CAN be initiated and penalties well above the $20,000,000 ICANN plans to receive can be pressured by the public to be demanded. These are just some of the very real consequences that CAN be enacted if this deal goes through. it will NOT take much encouragement to the MILLIONS that will be affected to be convinced. Particularly when the issue is impacting them financially. in fact, support of this initiative IS what will be MOST difficult to garner from these very MILLIONS. The opposition WILL rise and rise with EACH increase. That is undeniable and to be expected. Those affected will not be silenced

I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price.
