To whom it may concern; There are others who have voiced their opinions more eloquently than I. Basically I am imploring you to remember that the internet is used by more than just wealthy businesses. The internet is normal people who don't have a ton of money to throw around. People who look at this expense as bearable, but if the price goes up as a yearly expense becomes userous. Normal people doing recipe websites or poetry. People doing blogs or artists with personal art websites. People who want to just use their own names. Little people who use the World Wide Web to do more than surf social media. Don't chase us away by making those things to expensive to do. Please reconsider your decision. Please don't raise the prices so we can't afford our .com domains. Respectfully, Carole.

Hi, I'm writing in opposition to proposed amendment 3 for the following reasons: 1) Assigning Verisign the .COM registry is nothing more than a backdoor for them to monopolize the .COM domain registry business, which would be disastrous, given that the .COM TLD is the lifeblood of the Internet as we now know it. 2) Even with freezes after every two years, a 7% annual increase is unnecessarily inflationary at best and craven profiteering at worst. 3) The first two factors combine to create a chilling effect on commerce and expression. Hello, I would like to voice my opposition to Proposed Amendment 3. I believe that the global DNS registration system should be run primarily as a public concern. The only entities that stand to benefit from the proposed arrangement are Verisign itself, at the expense of the public. These price hikes will impact the millions of small, independent businesses and developers that rely on the system as is to make their livelihood. Further, this could prove yet another point of pressure that convinces a small business to make their online presence exclusively in the Facebook walled garden and eschew the web itself. The web, and global DNS, were envisioned to be run for the public good, and they *should* be run for the public good. Deals such as this are an abdication of that mandate; short sighted profit chasing at the expense of all else. Please, do not adopt this proposal. Best regards, -- Dan Hagen

One of the great things about the internet is that it "levels the playing field" for all humanity, allowing for the (almost) free exchange of ideas and information. Yes, the .com extension is the most popular one for websites, but realize that many small businesses and individuals will purchase the .com version of their domain simply to protect their name and/or brand. Therefore, even non-commercial sites own their .com domain. By increasing the cost of that extension, you're hurting the little guy, while not even phasing the "rich and powerful" who could potentially use those .com versions to subvert the good that someone might be attempting to create in the world. To the Executive Who is Lining His/Her Pockets at the Expense of Consumers, I’m sure you don’t care but I will say it anyway: stop it. Why sign back room deals that will put financial burden on registrars and consumers if it’s not necessary? Please do not allow the increase of .com fees without consulting others first. This will damage and hurt the internet in wide reaching ways. Too much power and authority will be given to Verisign in the hopes they do not increase the fees too much. I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Anand KesariOCALA
