Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. I'm here to tell you to stop this proposed price increase. You are being greedy. 40% price hikes with no caps in sight are ridiculous, stop it. I'm tired of getting ripped off by big secretive corporations and sleazy government agencies, and now this includes YOU!. We aren't going to just put up with it, I, and a lot of others are here to fight! We demand to know what you are doing with the money you propose to reap from us, aside from lining your pockets! Proveme wrong, give the internet community the clarity it deserves, and now demands!

The proposed changes that will result in price of domains names is unfair, undemocratic and will undermine trust in top level domain names. Why risk buyin a top level domain and build a brand on it when it can be expected that prices can rise consideraly without warning or consultation? This will drive individuals, businesses and organizations to social media and/or subdonains where they can get a presence cheaply or for free, that will become the norm. Besides, there is nothing stopping entrepreneurs or governments of e.g. China in building a second internet with its own nameservers, its own 'icann,' for people to put up their domains, and they will if its cheaper. I am a subscriber to NameCheap for my domain name. My domain name is an essential component for my website. The cost of my domain name is factored into my annual budget and any arbitrary increases in the cost of retaining my domain name are potentially damaging to my work as a artist. To Whom It May Concern I am both a customer of the .COM domain system and a seller as a wholesaler through my Hosting Business. The .COM domain name enjoys a de facto "default" status that encourages most new domain names to flow through to the .COM registrar, even after the introduction of the new gTLDs and country-specific TLDs. In the same way that the .ORG domain name should be managed and reserved for the enrichment of public organisations, .COM domain name should be made freely available to all people at a relatively cheap price. As we see an ever increase in entrepreneurship at the same levels we see a massive decrease in the cost of compute, if anything we should see the wholesale prices for domain names lower. This should be done to make the internet more free and open, and encourage everyone to get domain names. I love domain names, and for me I would love it if domain names proliferated to the same extent as domain names. I make a note of ICANN's vision which is "To be a champion of the single, open, and globally interoperable Internet". I do not see how increasing the price of Domain Names, which will only increase the operating costs of small business and individuals and not affect incumbent players in all markets (which the price increase will not even be noticeable). This action is completely in opposition of this vision. Please also refer to one of ICANN's Strategic Goals: "Sustain and improve openness, inclusivity, accountability, and transparency". How are you making the system more inclusive if the cost of a .COM domain name is about eight times more than what one third of the world's population makes per day? If anything, ICANN should be focusing on reducing the wholesale .COM domain price to make it more open and available. I wholeheartedly disagree with this move to make obtaining .COM domains harder. Hello, as a internet user who use and deal with .COM domains, I can say besides all of other internet users that we don't want this deal to happen and this increasing, it seems like you just using your power to do what you want whenever you want without a single caring to what people want, and it seems that the deal that you got for $20m is one of the reasons you're doing this, so please stop as we don't want this to happen
