There needs to more clarity around the exact short- and long-term costs for the consumer before such a decision is made. There needs to be the opportunity for a well-formed public input based around the facts before ICANN takes any action — and transparency about why ICANN wants to do this needs to be made.

I understand you are approving significant rate increases for .COM domains without public notice or input. These changes are a additional burden on users like me who operate small business and are already loaded with utility fees that are onerous and out of touch with reality. Apparently ICANN and Verisign have proposed this rate increase in secret. I object and will also let my political representatives know of my dissatisfaction. I'm unhappy with the changes that will result in higher .com prices over the coming years. I would much rather see changes that prevent cyber squatting *without *increasing prices for legitimate domain purchasers. - Erich

Hello, ICANN, Your proposed price increases of 70% over and above the current prices over the next 10 years is simply absurd. With an average cost of living increase around 2%, and a ten year peak of 3.78%, 70% is simply unjustifiable. Rather than schedule your increases based on nothing, an indexing to the cost of living would make sense. If a "scheduled 10 year increase" is absolutely necessary then 20% over 10 years would seem more reasonable. Thank you, Joseph S. Please do not raise prices on .com domains at such a steep rate. The increases, if any, should be incremental over time.
