My comment is this: Your increase of .com prices is unjust, and it targets many people who are already vulnerable. Small business owners, freelancers, start ups - YOUNG PEOPLE! Dreamers! People who want to make a difference! That’s who this price increase hurts. And those are the exact people who are going to save the world, and change the world. As a 21 year old freelancer, my website is essential to my work. My business does not exist without my website. I do not have a livelihood without my website. A price hike over the next years would really effect my pocketbook, and it would do the same for everyone like me. Please reconsider. Thank you for your time. Sent from my iPhone

To whom it may concern, The power of the internet is the numerous ways that people can connect and share information, tools, and resources with one another. Through the internet open source projects have become more abundant and easier to scale. This has resulted in more people benefitting from advances in technology without prohibitive costs associated with corporate offerings. At the heart of this ability to develop projects online is the ability to start domains affordably. This proposed deal to increase the prices of .COM TLDs by 7% for 8 out of 10 years will inevitably and eventually take a means for creating equality and accessibility out of the hands of millions of entrepreneurs, hobbyists, activists, and many others who are price sensitive. I would attest that the internet is the last bastion of freedom. At the heart of it is the domain itself. Since the overwhelming majority of domains end with .COM there is a need to preserve and protect the access to establishing a domain with this TLD. Bring this proposal to the public. Honor the millions upon millions who have used this TLD to make the internet what it is today. Have the courage to stand against the pressure of capitalistic onslaughts and say no to the price increases that threaten our very freedom the internet has provided. The .com domains have become the de-facto internet standard and raising the prices now feels like a monopoly raising its rates just because it can. I believe, because it has become an 'internet standard', the .com extension has lost many of it's rights as an domain name extension which a private company like Verisign can legally control control. -- Randy Peterson -This message is confidential. I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. Ladies and Gentlemen : It has come to our attention that the above referenced amendment as proposed and regarding .com registry terms going forward, was formulated and drafted in secret and without consulting and feedback from the ICANN community or Internet users. Given that the .com registry is essentially a monopolistic arrangement, we consider this to be an abuse of the public trust and register our strong view that these changes should be postponed until such ICANN community and Internet users’ views can be consulted and incorporated. The amount of control maintained by ICANN is concerning when the public is ignored. The proposed changes are an example of exactly what is wrong with this power and control for something as ubiquitous as domains without including open feedback. More inclusion in this process is needed. It is very possible that additional funds are needed to process domains, but this should be vetted by others. The potential for abuse is high following the current process with only two parties involved. Please use wisdom before entering into agreements that can potentially harm those with lower resources.
