Dear Icann, In a day and age when the cost of technology continues to become less and less expensive as economies of scale are realized, it seems very odd that you would propose raising your own fees for the work you do in the Internet. Fee increases only fatten pockets while decreasing innovation. It’s a lose-lose in the end. Please keep things competitive for those who use your services every day. This proposed change will increase the cost of registrations of domain names, including those of independent hobbyists like myself. I am not part of a corporation, I do not make money from my dot com websites. By allowing additional price increases for domain names, that will inevitably get pushed down to the buyers, you will be hindering the ability of individuals, especially those without means, to participate in the inherent democracy of the Internet. Large companies & the rich are able to absorb such price increases, but many individuals are operating on already-stretched budgets. Please reconsider the effect your policies will have on "the little people" and do not allow this. Thank you. -- Robert Hill rdhill316(a)gmail.com

I am a registrant of over 100 .com domain names. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. This would have a negative effect on my business and STRONGLY oppose this move. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. Other GTLDS have been able to lower costs. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry - it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest.
