Regarding this cash grab proposal, the bigger picture is that the internet is for everyone not just those with means. By forcing even domains to be hogged by corporations, this would spell the death of true innovation and the birth of more mega corporations. Please stop this real world inequality spilling into the virtual. Thanks!

If we apply free market principals to the fact that the company (Verisign) has the right to increase prices, then we also have to apply the same principal to the fact that there is no reason for Verisign to have a monopoly over the TLDs that it represents (COM and others). At the end of the day, dotCOM is not the property of Versign but of ICANN and Verisign is all but a registry. There are many other equally qualified companies who can perform the same operation as Verisign and maybe more effectively and efficiently. Increasing prices without any clear and acceptable justification is against the principals of ICANN and a crime against the internet users, who will have no option but to accept the price increase.

ICANN, As the registrant of several .com domains I can not endorse this cost increase. There is not enough transparency in the deal, nor any clear future controls. .

Hello, I would like to voice my opposition to the Proposed Amendment 3. The only entities that stand to benefit from the proposed arrangement are verisign itself, at the expense of the public. While price hikes such as this likely won't mean much to the larger business concerns that buy in bulk, it will impact the millions of small, independent businesses and developers that rely on the system as is to make their livelihood. Verisign should not be able to raise the price of a .com domain. They have a monopoly on those domains and it costs only $3 to register one, so they shouldn't be able to consistently raise the price for users who are registering a .com domain.
