Reminder: Monthly GNSO WG Newcomer Open House Session These ongoing monthly sessions are for new GNSO WG participants to come together and discuss any questions they may have about GNSO Working Groups, procedures and/or processes. We know there is a lot of information to digest when you join a GNSO Working Group and these monthly meetings are an opportunity for newcomers and more experienced participants to meet in an informal setting without the pressure of "real work" that needs be done. The agenda is flexible. The presenters will be ready with a standard set of materials if people would like to discuss them. Feel free to submit questions, either in advance or at the beginning of the meeting, if there is a topic that you would like to explore in more depth . Briefing paper for first meeting this Thursday

Dear CWG members, Please find attached a briefing paper prepared by staff that we hope will assist with the group¹s discussions. Some of the material referenced in the paper (e.g. The initial GNSO draft principles (2012) and ccNSO feedback (2013)) have previously been circulated along with this group¹s charter - but all three are included as Annexes to this paper for your easy reference. A specific addition to this paper that may be particularly useful is Section III, which contains a table of previous and current cross community working groups including their chartering organizations and outcomes. You should have received call in information for the Thursday meeting separately, but in any event we will send a reminder out as well. Welcome and first meeting

Dear all, Welcome to the new Cross Community Working Group for developing a final Framework of Operating Principles that will guide the formation/chartering, operations, decision making and termination of future cross community working groups. The interim co-chairs Ms Becky Burr (ccNSO) and Mr John Berard (GNSO) - would like to convene a first meeting of the group on Thursday 22 May at 1500 UTC. A separate notification with all the relevant call in details will be sent, but for now we wanted to get this on your agendas without further delay. In preparation for the meeting, please find attached a staff paper that had been prepared for the GNSO Council in November 2013, on the background work that has already been done to date on the topic. The most relevant information for our present purposes can be found in Section III, which summarizes the initial draft principles originally developed by the GNSO in 2012 and the feedback provided on them by the ccNSO in 2013. The full text of both the draft principles and the ccNSO feedback can be found in the Annexes. Also attached is a copy of the Charter for this CWG. Even if you are very familiar with GNSO Working Groups and their processes, you are encouraged to review this Charter prior to the call as due to the nature of this CWG the membership and processes detailed in the Charter are not the standard GNSO Working Group ones. Bart Boswinkel and I will be the primary policy staff supporting you in this CWG. We hope to circulate an updated staff paper with additional details on the workings and outcomes of previous and current CWGs soon.
