Dear CWG members,
To follow up on the call that was held last week, here is the amended timeline that was discussed; you’ll see that we have allowed for one additional CWG call (on 11 February) as well as an open community session during ICANN55 in Marrakech, which will be during the public comment period we hope to open for our Framework document.
21 January – CWG call to discuss any concerns/comments about the updated draft Framework document
5 February – deadline for final CWG comments
11 February – CWG call to discuss additional concerns raised between 21 January and 5 February
19 February – publication of Framework document for public comment, for the prescribed 40 day period (unless the CWG or the ccNSO or GNSO Councils request an extension); document will also be sent to all other ICANN SO/ACs to alert them to the proposed recommendations and to seek feedback
6-10 March – ICANN55 (schedule a community session to present and discuss community feedback on the Framework document)
30 March – close of public comment period; Framework to be updated if necessary based on public comments received
Mid-April – updated Framework document sent to CWG for final approval
End-April – final Framework document sent to ccNSO and GNSO Councils (the Chartering Organizations for our CWG)
May/June – consideration and adoption of Framework by ccNSO and GNSO Councils
For your convenience, the draft Framework document is appended to this email. Besides cleaning up some formatting, grammatical and typographical errors, we have also added language in a few places in Section 3 to reflect the discussion on the CWG call last week – these additions can be seen as “redlined” markup text in the attachment.
Please also note that Section 4 contains a number of open questions for which your feedback will be helpful. You may also, as a CWG, decide to seek public comment on some of these questions as well.
We will send around call-in details for the proposed CWG call on 11 February shortly.
