My summary from the call today
Hi, For those who were not on the call today I will summarise the suggestions I made during the call 1. The group should agree on a single media to use for notifying group members. Normally in other ICANN working groups it is the mailing list. 2. Any changes, discussion items, work products etc. should be sent to the mailing list. Dropbox can be used to share files if it is convenient (which is not necessarily so for everybody). 3. The chair should give at least 3 or 5 business days notices for any new agenda that is coming up such as - group calls or new documents that have to be reviewed and discussed. 4. We are not bound to any tight deadlines and should make sure as many people from the group participate, even if it takes longer time to complete the work. 5. The group should agree on having regular phone calls at some pre-defined time that is most convenient for everybody. The suggestion on the cal was having calls every 2 weeks, every 3 or 4 weeks is also an option. 6. Still waiting for a response on how to join the Russian-Ukrainian-Belarusian working group. As of now, I have not participated in any work that group has done. Best regards, Vladimir Shadrunov
Dear colleagues, Let me give some clarifications. This is a normal acceptable way to share work information. Files have been loaded in the Dropbox contain sufficient information. In the relevant mode of Word, you can leave all personal corrections. This is doing the part of the Panel participants. But some of the Panel participants considers that it is necessary additionally to fix personal contribution. For this purpose during call-conference was suggested to use the mailing list. This suggestion was accepted. Thus, we have two mechanisms for discussions: 1) emailing list for current discussions and 2) Dropbox for fixing of intermediate and final results. Both mechanisms should not affect the final results during work of Panel. > 2. Any changes, discussion items, work products etc. should be sent > to the mailing list. I want to note, as Chair, that despite the voluntary nature of participation, Panel' work MUST BE done in time. The different urgent situations may arise. Therefore, rule of "3-5 business days" is not absolute. If someone can't to take part in relevant discussion - will work in the "catch-up" mode. > 4. We are not bound to any tight deadlines and should make sure as > many people from the group participate, even if it takes longer time to complete the work. Sorry. Mistake. We have bound to real deadlines in framework of general job of all Panels. Another thing that we don't have determined dates yet. But it will end very soon. I think that up to 15th Apr. So no need relax. > 5. The group should agree on having regular phone calls at some > pre-defined time that is most convenient for everybody. Pls, write to CyrillicGP@icann.org or contact with me in Skype (yvk777) for organizing local conference. Preliminary results are loaded in presentation in Dropbox month ago. Vladimir, what subject you want to discuss in this case? It was only first step in work of Panel. > Best regards, > Vladimir Shadrunov Thanks again to all for fruitful discussion during conference-call. ------ Best regards, Yuri
Re. "work MUST BE done in time" - that's exactly my point. There's no work that MUST be done. First we need to see if there is a group that is being able to organise itself, that is able to dedicate certain amount of time, and is able to come to a consensus. We may find that the above isn't possible - no big deal. Some working groups can do this, some others can't. There's no tragedy in going forward without a policy on Cyrillic TLD labels. We may also find that the work will take 1 or 2 or 3 years to complete, which is also ok. We, as a volunteer-based group, are not bound to any deadlines. What's more important is having the necessary organisation within the group and sticking to the multi-stakeholder consensus principles. Without these there's no work. Self-organisation - first. Timeline and results - second (and in fact, optional). </provocative mode off> Vladimir On Mon, Mar 16, 2015 at 1:30 PM, Yuriy Kargapolov <yvk@uanic.info> wrote: > Dear colleagues, > > Let me give some clarifications. > > Monday, March 16, 2015, 2:12:28 PM, you wrote: > > > Hi, > > > For those who were not on the call today I will summarise the > > suggestions I made during the call > > > 1.
