As a result of various requests to facilitate observers to follow the EPDP Phase 2 deliberations in real time, audio cast will be made available for the EPDP plenary meetings. Staff will be monitoring audio cast attendance numbers so that the EPDP leadership can assess its usage. Dear EPDP Colleagues, Just a quick email to notify you of my resignation from the EPDP effective immediately. The IPC has selected Franck Journoud (MPA VP of Technology Policy) to take my place as one of the IPC's two primary representatives on the EPDP team. Franck has been following the work of the EPDP discussions since August and we have been working hand-in-hand since then to ensure a smooth transition. To complete the transition I will be working behind the scenes with Franck until the end of the month. It has been a privilege to collaborate with all of you on this important policy and I wish you all much success in completing your deliberations and delivering the Phase 2 reports! Given the world is very small (and the ICANN circus is even smaller!) the odds are pretty good we will bump into each other again in the future. I very much look forward to that. As noted during the call, each building block google doc now contains the Initial Report text at the top of the building block; please make comments (if any) on this text. During tomorrow's meeting, we will continue reviewing the Building Blocks using the Google Doc versions. If, instead, you would like to note general comments about the structure, formatting, or diagrams within the Initial Report itself, you are welcome to comment (in COMMENT MODE ONLY) within the Initial Report Google Doc. I’m not sure I understand the “conflict of interest” cited by Jennifer, below. Are you proposing that Registrars will refuse to disclose data solely on the basis of having a service agreement with the data subject? And how does disclosure terminate the customer relationship…I don’t recall our discussing this. While I can’t speak for the Registrars that Jennifer has worked with or for, I don’t believe most Registrars would suspend or terminate service based on a disclosure request. And while we seek to protect and secure our Registrant customers’ data, no Registrar I know would harbor an abusive or criminal actor for the sake of a $20 domain name. The primary interests in play are (1) the Registrar’s interests in avoiding fines by complying with data protection law, and (2) the Registrar’s interest in avoiding legal action by their Registrant customers (individually or as a class) for improper disclosure of their private data.
