WG Members: A the conclusion of the ICANN 57 meeting in Hyderabad the GAC issued a Communique that contained advice referencing this WG. Last week, during the INTA Leadership Meeting in Florida, Petter and I conferred and then prepared and sent the attached memo to the Chair and Vice Chairs of the GNSO Council. We look forward to resuming our work next week and expeditiously completing the drafting of our preliminary report and recommendations. Preliminary report presentation this morning

My apologies for missing the presentation of the preliminary report as it is cross scheduled with the second part of the IPC meeting this morning. I am an IPC officer so I needed to be there. I realize that I have missed at least the last 2 meetings. There have been too many schedule conflicts and, hopefully, there will fewer conflicts in the future. Disturbing Letter from IGOs to GNSO

Hi folks, I noticed a letter has been sent from the IGOs to the GNSO Council, see: http://gnso.icann.org/en/correspondence/igos-to-gnso-31oct16-en.pdf I'm disturbed by page 2, where it says that: "This compromise proposal follows on years of comprehensive negotiations involving representatives of the ICANN Board, the GAC, IGOs and ICANN staff." which not just implies, but openly states that the ICANN Board and ICANN staff are undermining the work of this PDP. Some clarification from the ICANN Board and Staff would seem to be essential at this point. What have we been doing for the past 2 years on this PDP, if they've been in secret negotiations with the apparent blessing and active participation of the Board and Staff of ICANN? Beyond that, there are no *new facts* to speak of in this letter that should change our policy work. The 2nd paragraph of page 1 in particular shows that they're just like anybody else who experiences abuse on the internet, and while they claim to be "special", they are not. The arguments they make are the exact same that a for-profit or a non-profit who isn't an IGO would make about "waste of precious resources." Dear all, As noted in Nathalie’s email (below), you will find information for all GNSO-related sessions (including that for our PDP Working Group) by clicking on the link for “GNSO Remote Participation details”. Our WG meeting is scheduled to be held on Monday 7 November, from 0900-1030 local Hyderabad time (India Standard Time). If you click on the tab for Monday, you’ll find the meeting time, location (for those attending in person), Adobe Connect link and telephone bridge passcode. For the dial-in number applicable to your location, please click the “Dial In Numbers (Audio Bridge)” tab. The first link provided by Nathalie will take you to the overall ICANN57 meeting schedule, where you can download (if you have Sched) information about any and all other sessions that may be of interest. One that you may wish to note is the GNSO’s Working Sessions on Friday 4 November, where our co-chairs will be giving an update on our work (from 1100-1130 IST). Every session on the schedule can be selected and added to your calendar inbox. To get a general description of the session, please hover your mouse over the session title and a summary of the session will appear as well as a ³add to my schedule² option. Step 2 Navigate to the right hand side of the main schedule and follow instructions to download the ICANN57 Mobile App. Step 3 All Adobe Connect rooms (which can be found on the session information on the Meeting Schedule and on the GNSO Remote Participation wiki page) will provide audio streaming. If you cannot join an Adobe Connect room for a session, and will need to dial in with your phone, please refer to the GNSO Remote Participation wiki page for the audio pass codes and dial in numbers.
