Action items from ICG call #8, 26 November 2014

Action items from today's call: 1. Wu to ask ICANN Board to send a formal written communication confirming that the Board plans to participate early in the proposal develop process and not leave the raising of any new issues to the proposal submission process of 17-31 July 2015. 2. Cooper to edit Step 4 of the latest version of the proposal finalization document (proposal-finalization-v3-pw-lsa.docx), to remove the more specific text in part b), on how the proposal is transmitted, and update part c) to not be so specific about how and when the ICANN Board is to give feedback on the proposal. 3. ICG to consider flagging issue of contracting and “separability “of IANA functions (under discussion by CWG on names component of IANA stewardship transition) with leaders of all communities developing stewardship proposals. Regards, Sam

Thank you Samantha for the prompt action. It is seems No 1 action item needs re-couching, my understanding was that we have a level of comfort from the statements/briefing by Kuo Wu as the ICANN Board liaison to ICG. Did we agree to demand a written undertaking from the ICANN Board in addition to Wu's statements? May be I missed the point, please correct me, if I got it wrong. I do not think we agreed that. Wu is our liaison, he was there and heard what was said and summarised well by Alissa. I am sure Wu can see to it that his assurances are reinforced as necessary without this action point appearing in the minutes. Daniel

I agree with Daniel's remark. As indicated in my previous email, the fact that the ICANN Board has delegated a Liaison to the ICG should suffice. I agree: Kuo-Wei's statement covers all my concerns and Daniel's point on Kuo-Wei's role as liaison makes a lot of sense to me. So thanks Kuo-Wei (and the ICANN Board) for this constructive approach. I think it is sufficient to record in the minutes that Wu has reviewed and approved as correct the language representing his statement in the minutes. On 11/25/2014 10:33 PM, Daniel Karrenberg wrote:

Alissa, Here is what ICANN board to process the final report (which I posted already): - The ICANN Board will meet to consider the final ICG report within 14 days of receiving the report - The Board will send the report onto the NTIA without making any changes within 14 days of receiving the report - The Board will send an accompanying letter which will either endorse the report, or it will express concerns that will already have been shared with the ICG through the various opportunities for public comment and dialogue. The accompanying letter will be posted publicly. Does ICG still ask for “formal written statement”? Kuo Wu
